Our client is a large utility corporation with multiple facilities across a vast geographical region. No standard nomenclature nor engineering execution process was used for tag naming conventions. Duplication of tags, along with the inability to locate each asset, was costing valuable time and money. A centrally managed way to standardize tag names and queries across the organization was required.
Scope
- Gather information for tag variations
- Identify overlap and gaps
- Develop corporate naming standards based on business requirements
- Create and configure master tag registry
- Create execution and implementation plan
- Execute process
Results
- Implementation of a standardized tag naming process allowed for efficient asset tracking with the ability to enable predictive maintenance planning correlating tags to documents and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Unique Asset tracking also allowed for improved regulatory compliance.
